As Barcelona’s biggest and best contemporary music and multimedia art festival, SonarSound has been bringing the very finest electronic music to the city for close to 20 years. The festival has featured major headliners in the world of electronica such as Orbital, Chemical Brothers and the Scissor Sisters. With that, SonarSound has crossed the Spanish frontier into Tokyo and April 21 marks their fourth show in the city.

SonarSound Tokyo 2012 will take place in Tokyo’s most celebrated venues, Ageha and will offer two days of entertainment and artistry headlined by Squarepusher, and local favorites The Cinematic Orchestra. SonarSound will be Squarepusher’s first Japanese appearance in nearly 3 years and his set will no doubt feature material from his forthcoming album, “Ufabulum”. Tom “Squarepusher” Jenkinson is recognized for throwing elements of drum’n’bass with jazz-rock, hip-hop, acid and other genres into a wild blender.

The remainder of the line-up fails to disappoint, with the likes of infamous director, actor and musician Vincent Gallo and Glasgow’s chaotic beat-maker Rustie. In addition, the festival highlights a special showcase “SónarDome” hosted by Red Bull Music Academy, as well as, the exhibition of digital art by the multimedia artists Typing Monkeys.
