On Repeat (No.2) Main Image

Rufus – Paris Collides

Any of Rufus’s recent tracks would make it into Tokyo Indie’s Record Bag. Quality. Be sure to check out the remixes from Ride the Universe and Germany Germany.

Turner & Miesse – Blizzard

Not much is known about this (apparently) Finnish music producer. But what a record! Some have suggested that this moniker (and a reference to vintage Belgian cars) is being used by a well established producer seeking to experiment with a new sound – we wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise… but given the quality…

Friends – Friend Crush

A strangely haunting yet charming record from Friends, who are currently supporting Darwin Deez on his tour of the US.

Dark0 – HYLI

We have another unsigned 2-stepper in Davor Bokhari – an up and coming London-based producer. Garage beats with high-pitch vocals – fans of Vondelpark will approve.

Bicep – Darwin

A retro-futuristic chugger from the Bicep boys (Check out the Feel My Bicep blog BTW)…After building for five minutes, BANG! Perfect for keeping you awake on the first train home.

Mitten – Similar Sense

Although they’ve been together for less than a year there’s a maturity to this Boston based, girl duo. Similar sense has an airy quality and just a hint of math rock intelligence.

Lia Ices – Grow Unknown

Haunting stuff from a slip of a girl who sleeps somewhere between Zola Jesus and Cat Power. Expect great things in 2011.

Purity Ring – Ungirthed

A poorly named band with an even more poorly named record but once you get past that it’s rather good. Dreamy beats and wobbly vocals remind us just a tad of Passion Pit.

Cut/Copy – DJ Mix

An hour long collection of tracks available as a bonus with Cut/Copy’s latest album, out this month.

Lord of the Isles – We Were There Dancin’ (Joanna Rubio Rework)

Joanna Rubio’s rework of last year’s We Were There Dancin’ breathes new life into the track. Give it 2 minutes to let it get into the disco groove.
