Blip Festival 2011

Blip Festival 2011 Tokyo Indie Koenji High

Blip Festival is an 8-bit music festival which started in NYC back in 2006, last year however the festival made a stop-off in Tokyo and was a resounding success. Organised by 8bitpeoples, a collective of artists with a common love for classic video game music, the event reflects this obsession.

Omodaka – Kokiriko Bushi

The festival lineup looks even stronger this year with artists and fans from all over the world set to descend upon Koenji High later this month. Despite it being an 8-bit festival, this is by no means a genre-defining term, with this year’s artists delivering a wide variety of styles, from the typically tech-housey Bit Shifter to melodic rockers Anamanaguchi and local Japanese legend Omodaka, who somehow finds a way to mix Japanese Enka into his sound.

For tickets, a full run down of each artist and what they’re about check out the official site below (it’s available in both English and Japanese).
